You are looking at
this site because you are either loosing your hair or afraid that you
soon will.
There are many causes of hair loss. But we will restrict our
discussion to the most common - the so called age related baldness.
The full medical term is Andro Chrono genetic Alopecia. A mouth full
of a name and we will not use it again. Instead we will use the
acronym ARB.
ARB can occur in men and woman, it requires three factors:
1) A genetic or an inherited code from either mother or father
or both.
2) Age - this acts as a trigger mechanism to activate to this
program that’s why some people start loosing hair early and others
don’t start until much later on in life.
3) Testosterone - or more accurately the active form of
testosterone known as dihydro testosterone or DHT. Interestingly
testosterone is present in both men and woman and that to a degree
accounts for ARB occurring in females. The pattern of hair loss in
woman is different from that in men.
There are therefore three ways in which hair loss can be prevented:
1) Genetic- this requires you to re-select your parents. At
this point in time we have not found a successful way of achieving
this goal.
2) Age- If you know how to turn back the clock please let me
know because we don’t.
3) Hormones - castrated men don’t go bald. this is not an
acceptable therapeutic option, however there is an other way of
interfering with the hormonal component, this involves preventing the
conversation of testosterone to DHT at the cellular level, certain
chemicals both prescribed and non prescription with help achieve this
end.
The causes of hair loss are many. We have
focused on the most common reason, however if you have any questions
in regards to your hair loss, the please feel free to email us with
your questions and even your pictures.
Hair Loss is natural. Under normal conditions the hair on your head is
genetically programmed to a schedule that includes three stages :
1. Growth cycle
2. Shedding cycle
3..Resting cycle
When does baldness occur?
Baldness occurs when the shedding of hairs significantly exceeds the
re-growth cycle
Major cause of baldness.
There are a number of reasons and factors that can contribute to
baldness, but 95% of the time the reason is genetic. This can effect
both men and women.
